Challenge

The client engaged Apex Companies to perform environmental due diligence for the divestiture of two business units for an international manufacturing client. A total of 31 active locations (26 domestic; five international) were assessed by Apex in a six week timeframe. Apex also conducted a review of legacy locations associated with the business units. The portfolio included numerous heavy manufacturing locations in the United States with over 50 years of history. Additionally, the portfolio included a property located in Connecticut that was potentially subject to the Connecticut Transfer Act.

Solution

Apex used a tiered approach to due diligence performing Phase I ESAs on manufacturing and/or owned real estate and Desktop Reviews on warehouse and/or leased facilities. We authored a final summary report detailing the salient environmental findings and assessing the overall risk profile. These deliverables were made available to potential purchasers to evaluate during their own diligence.

Results

Apex completed the project on time and provided meaningful support to the client after delivery of our final report. This assistance enabled the client to complete a successful sale of both business units to another Fortune 500 international manufacturing entity.
