waste distribution center

To support our retail client’s sustainability initiative, we evaluated various waste streams at a one-million square foot distribution center. We removed approximately 40,000 gallons per day of condenser water from the POTW waste stream—reducing facility discharge by over 60%.

When it comes to sustainability even small, conscious choices can lead to significant progress towards a cleaner environment.

Within our company, we are committed to making a difference. We strive to minimize waste; reuse, recycle, and compost; increase energy efficiency; reduce emissions; conserve water; use green products; set and achieve our sustainability goals; and hold ourselves accountable. For example, after learning that 13 billion pounds of paper towels are used by Americans every year – which translates to 130 million trees – one of our Apex offices launched a "Paper Towel Reduction Campaign." We measured baseline paper towel usage and marked all paper towel dispensers with "These Come from Trees" stickers. By engaging our employees, detailing the campaign, and providing strategies for reducing paper towel usage such as the "Shake and Fold" method, we're working to decrease our paper towel consumption by at least 50%.

To help our clients uphold their commitments to sustainability, we integrate sustainable techniques and approaches that create triple bottom line savings. With green infrastructure and low impact development (LID) services such as permeable/porous pavement, rainwater harvesting, bioswales, and wetlands, we help companies adopt resilient and innovative strategies to stop stormwater runoff from polluting our natural waterways and aquatic habitats.
