Founded in 1998, Storm Water Inspection and Maintenance Services, Inc. (SWIMS) is committed to keeping our oceans and waterways clean and trash-free. A pioneer in the stormwater management industry, SWIMS keeps thousands of stormwater systems across California operating smoothly; helps construction project managers in Northern California stay on schedule and compliant through a portfolio of erosion control, dewatering, street sweeping, and construction site services; and prevents thousands of pounds of trash from reaching waterways each year through its innovative StormTek™ full trash capture connector pipe screen.

In 2024, Apex acquired Pacific Northwest based PBS Engineering and Environmental, Inc (PBS), a regional leader in environmental consulting, engineering services, health and safety, and surveying and UAS across infrastructure, private, public, education, and industrial markets, PBS has eight offices across Oregon and Washington.
Strengthening Apex’s infrastructure and engineering capabilities and expanding the Northwest footprint, PBS brings a team of nearly 300 engineers, geologists, scientists, health & safety experts, surveyors, and corporate staff.

In 2023, Apex acquired Florida based Water Science Associates. Serving clients throughout the state, Water Science Associates is known for its expertise in hydrogeology, including integrated surface and groundwater systems and supply and disposal well systems, as well as the regulations and issues that impact water resource management and development.
Water Science Associates brings a team of experienced hydrogeologists, engineers, and scientists who specialize in water resource planning and evaluation, water supply development, and wastewater management to Apex, further expanding and supporting client services.

In 2021, Apex acquired Boston-based Environmental Partners (EP), a regional leader in engineering services across water/wastewater/ stormwater, civil, transportation, environmental, and other markets.
An award-winning multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm, EP is built on the core philosophy that a strict focus on client service through partnership creates added value. EP is headquartered in Quincy, Massachusetts and operates three regional offices across Massachusetts and Connecticut.
